At Dubai International Capital Asset Management, Samer is responsible for overlooking the division, which provides the marketing and placement platform for the firm’s three main divisions and funds including Dubai International Capital’s Global Strategic Equities Fund and the MENA Infrastructure Fund.
Samer joined Dubai International Capital Asset Management in June 2007. He previously headed the Wealth Management Group at Arab Bank PLC for the GCC, from 1998 to 2007, where he was Senior Vice-President and Senior Regional Head, being responsible for overall strategy and implementation of the business plan for the region. As regional head for this division, Samer played a critical role in restructuring the Private banking business for the Arab Bank. In addition he was able to successfully raise the level of Assets under Management and significantly increase the deposit base for the bank’s private banking division.
During his tenure at Arab Bank Plc, Samer’s most notable achievements include successfully launching and placing Private Equity and Real Estate Funds for the bank, among others.
Samer’s stint with Arab Bank began in 1986 in Amman and later was based in Singapore until 1998 where he played various roles which were focused on establishing the bank’s private banking business. He was also responsible for launching new investment products, one of which was the first in-house managed fund, which was a success. While based in Singapore, Samer also did oversee a range of markets including Malaysia, Thailand and Korea, and was part of the strategic planning committee.
He launched his banking career in 1985 with a leading US-based bank, Manufacturers Hanover Trust, where he received Credit and Management training for over a year.
Samer is a board member of several regional companies including Ishraq Gulf Real Estate Holding Company BSC, among others.
He obtained a BA in Management and Finance from Southeastern Louisiana University and subsequently completed the Executive Management Programme at Harvard University in Boston.
Samer is a member of the Young Arab Leaders Organisation and a member of the Harvard Alumni in the M.E.
