We are proud to honour his achievements today and even prouder because this all began here at Loughborough.”
In his acceptance speech, Mr.Al Ansari said, “Loughborough is one of Britain’s premier universities and has fostered world class athletes, business leaders and technological breakthroughs. It is a great privilege and an honour to accept this honorary doctorate amongst such a distinguished alumni.”
Mr. Al Ansari addressed the 2009 graduates of Loughborough University highlighting the international opportunities for UK graduates and Dubai’s ability to attract foreign talent: “There is a seismic shift of power and influence from the West to the East with emerging Asia in particular set to play a dominating role in this century. In the Middle East, I’ve witnessed the rapid development of Dubai into a regional capital for finance, logistics and trade attracting significant foreign investment and talent. I know of UK educated graduates who are now starting their careers in Dubai and for English speaking graduates the world really is your oyster, even in this downturn.”
Sameer Al Ansari graduated from Loughborough University in 1985, earning an Honours degree in Accounting & Financial Management and a Diploma in Industrial Studies.
Loughborough University was established in 1909 and today it is one of the UK’s leading universities awarded the ‘University of the Year 2008-9’ by the Sunday Times in its centenary year.
