MENA Infrastructure Fund

Dubai International Capital is the founding General Partner in the US$500 million MENA Infrastructure Fund (MENA IF) alongside HSBC and Oasis Leasing. The fund, which was launched in March 2006, aims to invest in the infrastructure and energy sectors across the Middle East and North Africa. The fund was formed by the coalition of the three leading sponsors, with each providing seed capital of US$50 million, and has established a profile with investors across the region and internationally. It has also been recognised as a sound financial partner in the region for international operators and developers of infrastructure and energy projects, being distinctively-designed to allow investors to gain exposure to these vital and growing sectors. The Fund targets a broad range of investments within the infrastructure asset class, including utilities, energy, transportation, social infrastructure and public private partnerships.

Each of its sponsors brings its leading expertise to the table:

  • Dubai International Capital - a leading UAE based international private equity firm
  • HSBC – a major global bank with a long established presence across MENA and with a number one project finance ranking in MENA
  • Oasis – a world-class leasing company providing effective financing solutions to international clients across a range of industries

Greenfield infrastructure development projects in various sectors are targeted by the Fund including utilities, energy, transportation, ports, education, healthcare, petrochemicals and public private partnerships. The MENA Infrastructure Fund has a long investment horizon to accommodate the cash flow profile of infrastructure and energy projects and acts as a strategic financial partner to co-sponsors, developers and operators of assets, investing broadly in both greenfield and brownfield projects and acquisitions.
