Dubai International Capital (‘DIC’), the private equity arm of Dubai Holding, would like to alert the business community with the following statement regarding fraudulent website scams. Dubai, 22 October 2012 – Dubai International Capital (‘DIC’), the private equity arm of Dubai Holding, would like to alert the business community to the fact that the contents of its website www.dubaiic.com and bogus email addresses incorporating the names of employees have and continue to be used by unauthorized people to undertake fraudulent activity. These fraudsters seek to lure potential victims primarily via email solicitations into disclosing confidential information and then conning these victims into making “processing” payments or paying bogus fees, resulting in financial loss. DIC’s website has been copied and used under a false name to promote funding for fictitious investments.  The latest examples being a fictitious business, Dubai International Financial Capital http://www.dubaific.com/about-dfic.html which has copied DIC’s website and Montgomery Roth International http://montgomeryrothinternational.com which has used the names of DIC executives to suggest that it has a Dubai based team. In addition, fraudulent emails have been transmitted by individuals using counterfeit DIC letterhead, via email addresses appearing to be legitimate and utilising DIC’s branding. These on-going scams are being perpetrated by people who have nothing to do with DIC and these incidents are being actively investigated by security and law enforcement authorities.  DIC requests its stakeholders and the wider business community to be vigilant and inform the Company if they are subject to such scams.
