Fadel Al Ali is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Dubai International Capital. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding, responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for its company and its business entities.
Fadel has a wealth of experience in the finance industry. He began a long and successful career at Citibank, where he worked as a financial analyst moving through the ranks quickly and was promoted to the UAE Consumer Credit Head in 2001, where he was responsible for managing all consumer credit units. Three years later, he was appointed as the UAE Head of Distribution, where he managed all of Citibank’s branches across the UAE, before joining Dubai Holding in 2004.
He is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Dubai Group and Dubai Properties Group, which are also entities of Dubai Holding, and is a Board Member of Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), du and Jumeirah Group.Fadel graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and System Engineering. He also holds a Certificate of Finance from the American University of Sharjah.

Abdullah Sharafi is the President and Managing Director at Gerab National Enterprises LLC., since 2004.
Presently he is the Chairman of the Board at TECOM Investments LLC, Acacia Investments (BSC), and Smart City FZ-LLC. He is also member of the Board of Directors at Dubai Group 2024 Limited, Dubai International Capital LLC, Takaful Re Ltd., and Zodiac Garments Factory LLC (Dubai Branch).
In the recent past Abdullah served as member of the Board of Directors at Emirates Financial Services PSC, Emirates NBD Asset Management LLC, Emirates NBD Capital LLC, Dubai Group Sigorta Anonim Sirketi, and Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad.
Abdullah earned his Master’s degree in economics from Denver University in 1983. He brings with him extensive entrepreneurial experience from his various family businesses; his tenure at the Emirates Industrial Bank for more than 21 years in different capacities as Dealer/Manager Treasury, Manager Information Center, Manager Economic Research Section, and Manager Projects/Operations Division; his two year seconded tenure at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research as Head of Oil and Investment Division; and his advisory roles at the UAE Ministry of Economy, the UAE Ministry of Labor, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Finance, and the UAE Central Bank.
Abdullah has written extensively on the UAE’s economy and industry, and his writings have been published in the Journal of the Emirates Industrial Bank and the local newspapers.

In late 2009, having been Managing Partner of Deloitte UK’s 1200 strong corporate finance practice for five years, Aidan assumed the role of Chief Restructuring Officer at Dubai World, a global conglomerate with interests in ports, shipbuilding, real estate, and an extensive international portfolio of hospitality, gaming and retails businesses. He held this position until late 2010 following the successful restructuring of Dubai World’s $40 billion debt held by 100 International and regional lenders.
Prior to joining Deloitte in 2001, Aidan led the PriceWaterhouseCoopers Global Business Recovery practice.
Throughout his career, Aidan has concentrated on advising stakeholders of under-performing and financially imperiled businesses and has successfully led a number of high-profile “corporate rescues” and restructurings. Businesses that Aidan has been engaged with include Schaefler, Algosaibi Brothers, Crest Nicholson, Mytravel, Cable & Wireless.
In addition to serving on the Board of DIC’s Portfolio company Doncasters, Aidan is a Board Member of Dubai Group and a Senior Independent Director of The Cooperative Bank plc.

Christopher Rowlands has extensive experience in private equity in Europe and Asia and has served on multiple public and private company boards. Latterly, he was a member of 3i’s Executive Committee, Group Investment Committee and Chairman of 3i Asia, before retiring in March 2009. He also worked previously at Barclays Bank and Andersen where he led the European Corporate Finance business. During his time at 3i, Mr. Rowlands led the Company’s growth capital business and developed 3i in Asia. He also served on the Board of 3i Group Pension Board of Trustees, Hermes GPE LLP and Mauser Group.
In 2009, Mr. Rowlands led “The Rowlands Review” of UK SME (small and medium enterprise) access to equity funding. The Rowlands Review which was commissioned by HM Treasury, led to the creation of The Business Growth Fund with £2.5 billion of committed funding.
Mr. Rowlands currently serves as Chairman of the Board of DIC’s Portfolio company Doncasters. He is also on the Board of USS Investment Management ltd.

David Smoot is Chief Executive Officer at Dubai International Capital. He is also Chief Executive Officer of portfolio company Doncasters. He previously served as Chairman of Doncasters, Almatis, Jordan Dubai Capital and MENA Infrastucture Fund, and Executive Vice Chairman of Standard Aero.
Prior to joining DIC in June 2008, David was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley where he was a co-founder of Morgan Stanley Private Equity (MSPE), the firm’s third party investment vehicle. He led portfolio investments in retail and aerospace and was responsible for building a team of thirty-five professionals in New York and London. In this capacity, David served on the Boards of McKechnie Aerospace, a leading aerospace components manufacturer, and Tops Markets, a New York-based supermarket chain.
Prior to his role in MSPE, David was Managing Director, Financial Sponsors, at Morgan Stanley Investment Banking where he advised global financial sponsors regarding M&A, IPOs, and debt and equity financings.
He is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Duke University and a member of the New York Bar.
